André Furtado obtained his MSc at the University of Aveiro in 2013. He concluded his PhD in 2020 in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in structures, in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). During this period, He was an invited Assistant Professor at the University Lusófona of Porto and FEUP. Since 2022, André Furtado is Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico.
He was the principal investigator of 2 R&D projects and participated actively in 7 other national and 4 international projects. He is a co-author of 76 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 70 communications in national and international conferences, 8 book chapters and 2 books. He was distinguished by the Portuguese Earthquake Engineering Society with the “Carlos Sousa Oliveira Award” in 2019 and by the Springer with the “Outstanding thesis award”, among others.
