Prof. Christos Xenakis' academic journey began with his B.Sc. degree in computer science in 1993, followed by an M.Sc. degree in telecommunication and computer networks in 1996, both from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens, Greece. Subsequently, in 2004, he earned his Ph.D. from the same institution.
Prof. Xenakis gained valuable industry experience from 1998 to 2001, working with a Greek telecoms system development firm, contributing to the design and development of advanced telecommunications subsystems. From 1996 to 2007, he was a member of the Communication Networks Laboratory at the University of Athens.
Since 2007, Prof. Xenakis has been a faculty member of the Department of Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus, Greece, where he currently holds the position of Professor. He serves as a member of the Systems Security Laboratory and is the director of the Postgraduate Degree Programme on "Cybersecurity and AI Technologies."
Prof. Xenakis has made significant contributions to various EU and National Programs, managing and participating in numerous projects. He is the project manager of several EU-funded projects, including AIAS and NITRO, and has served as the project manager or technical manager for several others, such as SECONDO, INCOGNITO, ReCRED, CUREX, and SealedGRID.
Prof. Xenakis' research interests lie in the domains of systems, networks, and application security. He has authored over 110 papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences, demonstrating his significant contributions to the advancement of cybersecurity knowledge and practice.
