Emily M. Hunt is a Professor and the Dean of the College of Engineering at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, USA. She has been recognized as a leader in the field of energetic and biological materials science and continually makes vital contributions to her discipline. She has developed, patented, and commercialized multiple materials that are resistant to microbial growth. These materials are being used to fight corrosion in offshore oil and gas applications as well as commercially in paint, grout, and as protective surface coverings both in the US and internationally. Dr. Hunt has co-authored over 50 archival journal publications, 4 patents, and a multitude of conference proceedings and publications. She is an international speaker on nanotechnology and biological corrosion prevention as well as engineering education. Dr. Hunt is also an advocate for early engineering education and an award-winning children’s book author of engineering stories such as Engineering Elephants, Designing Dandelions, and Optimizing an Octopus. Through her mentoring and outreach activities, innovative teaching techniques and groundbreaking research, Dr. Hunt exemplifies a leader in the field of engineering.
